COLLEGE FAIR
|
|
Concordia opens our doors to area private high schools and home schooled students to give them the opportunity to experience a college fair and gain more knowledge of colleges/universities. It is also an opportunity for the college reps to meet with many more students, making their time with us more productive. Private/Christian schools and home-schooled students who are interested in joining us on this special day, please contact Tami Brennan at 281-351-2547 x 209. Grades 9th-11th are prepped in advance of their responsibilities during their time in the gym with the college reps. The counselors go into the classrooms discussing etiquette, types of questions to ask, and the assignment that will be required of them. A college rep offers his/her assistance in talking with our students about what a college fair is all about and the kind of information students should gather. When it is time for the fair to begin, the senior class, area private high schools, and home schooled students attend first. This is the seniors' chance to ask last minute questions or to continue their research on schools to which they may wish to apply. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors attend the fair at various times. By separating the classes, there is a continuous flow of students in the gym, allowing reps to give more individual attention. Seniors: 1:45-2:00 -- They are excused to go home at 2 PM. Juniors: They will be in the library from 1:45-2:00 PM. A college rep will review with them how to make the most of the college fair. They will be in the gym from 2:00-3:00 PM. Sophomores and Freshmen: They will be in the Cafetorium from 1:45-2:15 PM. Mr. Walter will review with them what kinds of questions they should ask a college rep, etc.. A teacher will be responsible for a group of students during the fair. This time is devoted to prepping the students of their responsibilities. These classes will be dismissed to the gym at 2:15 PM. A list of colleges attending will be posted soon.
